Come January, the thought of coming up with any sort of resolution always seems like a daunting task. It’s generally one in which I tend to avoid (hence the incredible delay of this post). I often feel as if I’m setting myself up for failure from the get go. I mean, lets face it, I won’t ever go to the gym three times a week – and I don’t need to beat myself up for it. When I saw this post on pennyweight it seemed like something I could easily stick to. By breaking goals and aspirations down on a month to month basis and turning them into a pretty graphic chart of sorts, I’m much more likely to accomplish said task and it gives me something to look forward to for the upcoming month. The following are a few things I will strive to achieve throughout the next year:
| January :: make bread from scratch | February :: start painting again |
| March :: take a cooking class | April :: do something nice for a stranger |
| May :: organize my desk | June :: re-attempt an herb garden |
| July :: take a roadtrip | August :: walk/bike to work every day |
| September :: rent bikes & go on a picnic | October :: spend a day in bed |
| November :: learn how to knit |
| December :: make a gift for a neighbour I haven’t met |

While I’m still technically on vacation, I couldn’t resist stopping by to wish you, my lovely readers, a happy New Years. I am so thankful for all the support you have given me in the past nine months. You guys truly keep me going each day. So take a sip of champagne (on me!).
The past few days I’ve noticed an interesting turn on new years resolutions. A lot of bloggers are stating the things that they’ve done in 2010 that they want to keep about themselves in 2011. What a lovely thought! While none of us are perfect, I truly believe that we all try to do the best that we know how to. I’m going to embrace this positive spin on the idea of resolutions and share my list of my abilities that I’m proud of; the things that I want to keep within myself for the upcoming year.
. Keep building my blog and inspiring people each and every day (whilst being inspired by them in the same breath)
. Keep growing my business and taking on new clients
. Keep my ability to find the positive in any given situation
. Keep on facing my fears, taking chances, working my little butt off and having faith that it will all be worth it in the end
. Keep recycling! I’m getting really good at it
. Keep saving money, while splurging a little here and there (celebrating life is necessary)
. Keep trusting my instincts and following my gut. It knows what’s up.
. Keep my passion for life, keep making the most of it and keep appreciating each and every day I’m given.
. Keep appreciating my friends and family. They are the priority in life and so far I’ve done a great job at not taking them for granted.
What are some things you did in 2010 that you’d like to keep on doing for this upcoming year? I’d love to know.
Happy New years sunshines. I’ll see you back here on Tuesday!

tulips at the market | french baguettes
olive oil & balsamic vinegar samplers | crêpe fixins’ | brunch with the girls
With Justin away at a hockey tournament, my girlfriends and I took it upon ourselves to take over the condo for a mini-dinner party, followed by a slumber party (and brunch the next day). Together, we spent Saturday evening attempting to make buckwheat pasta* and digging into my stash of olive oil and balsamic vinegar samplers. Naturally, we paired both with a bottle (or two) of prosecco and made sure to follow with dessert.
After a crêpe brunch on Sunday, we finished off with pedicures and a long afternoon nap**. Now adorning fuschia-pink toes (ready for an early spring!) we definitely tipped the scales towards an indulgent few days. I’m so glad I have such a great group of ladies to keep me company while Justin isn’t able. They make wonderful substitutes, though, I must admit, I am glad to have him home.
How was your weekend? I’d love to know!
*it only kind of worked
**Sundays should always be conducted in this fashion
ps. I started painting as per my February resolution. I’ll be sure to show you the results once it’s complete (which could be months from now – time is at a premium at the moment). I forgot how much I enjoyed this process
